Like most people, I wouldn’t describe Mondays as my favourite day of the week. That looks set to change though…..well, for 5 weeks anyway.
LivingLens battled it out for a place on the Virgin Trains Platform-X Accelerator program. From the hundreds that applied we have won a place in the final 8, with an opportunity to gain a slice of the £25 million fund.
However, the tantalising investment is only part of the story.
Being part of the programme promises to deliver so much more besides. LivingLens and representatives from the other finalists are set to meet every Monday throughout July. Having experienced week 1, we’re not disappointed.
The Virgin brand is synonymous with entrepreneurialism and innovation.
“We’ve always kept a start-up spirit alive within Virgin, so that we can keep innovating and disrupting industries” – Richard Branson
The programme provides the opportunity to develop a partnership, not only with the Virgin brand, but with the individuals that are responsible for its success.
Virgin Trains are giving us unprecedented access to key stakeholders across the organisation to explore how our leading Video Analytics platform could be implemented to be a game changer in the rail industry by providing the best service possible for their customers. Working within such as open and collaborative forum is a refreshing change. It provides the freedom to think creatively and the willingness to challenge the status quo.
The energy and enthusiasm throughout the day was boundless. Working with a brand with such insatiable curiosity that wants to continuously evolve is proving to be quite infectious. It’s not just about feeling all warm and fuzzy though.
“Good thoughts are no better than good dreams, unless they be executed.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson
Coupled with this is the focus and desire to disrupt and improve the rail industry in a short window. Implementing trial initiatives with visible benefits is the goal. Brainstorming ideas is all well and good, but they need to lead to something tangible.
The outcome is unknown, but so far, we’re enjoying being along for the ride.
